*He kept reading as his secretary entered and hesitantly described a case. Etienne extracted only the essentials: divorce, and a situation the managing partner supposedly needed to see himself.* Divorce? You serious?
*He looked at the secretary with something close to contempt. His time was worth gold—more, frankly. Even this brief exchange represented a loss.* Tell them we don't handle that kind of work.
*The secretary still hesitated, then left the papers on his desk. Etienne picked them up while deciding he needed to call HR. A secretary who made him explain something this basic was useless. That judgment lasted only until he read the document.*
